Although orthodontics has advanced tremendously in the last 100 years, it can only solve tooth position issues, not necessarily tooth shape or lack of dentition. However, restorative or prosthetic solution alone can often be quite cumbersome and unnecessary complicate if the underlying dentition is not in proper “position”. To that end, ideal treatment plans, and outcomes often require expertise of many professions each with their own skill set. As many patients may be reluctant to wear fixed braces as part of their dental rehabilitation, the reluctance towards undergoing Orthodontics has diminished dramatically with utilization of Invisalign Aligners. This course will showcase a number of pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment plans and discuss how using Invisalign Aligners made this process not just simpler for the patients, but to all parties involved in the rehabilitation process.
Understand how to use Digital Orthodontic Interface, namely ClinCheck, to treatment plan restorative/prosthetic rehabilitation
Review Invisalign Aligner design to increase predictability of treatment outcomes
Discuss timing and coordinating with different providers for smooth patient case management
Show case the versatility of the Invisalign appliance on its own or as a hybrid system to accomplish pre-restorative/pre-prosthetic dental alignment
Dr. Bart Iwasiuk has been in private practice since 2002 and using Invisalign since his residency training. He achieved Elite Provider status in 2012, and continues to push the limits of what can be accomplished using Invisalign aligners. He received his DDS from the University of Toronto and his Orthodontic Certification from the University of Rochester. His interest in multidisciplinary dentistry stems from spending two years at the University of Washington and being influenced by the Seattle Study Club. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester, as well as a personal instructor on YourOrthoCoach.com. He is an International Keynote Speaker, Research Consultant and a member of the Key Opinion Leaders for Align Technology, Inc.. With advancements of Aligner products aimed at growing patients he is also a Member of the Global Growing Patient Speaker Group and the North American Mandibular Advancement Clinical Expert Panel. He is an Invisalign Diamond Provider practicing in the Greater Toronto area.

Evidence based studies have demonstrated the biologically destructive process which ensues after a tooth is extracted. This natural process not only compromises the extraction site for a possible future implant supported restoration but can also compromise the support tissue around the adjacent teeth in the event they are to be used as abutment teeth for a bridge.
Furthermore, an atrophic ridge underneath a pontic can lead to soft tissue concavities, which can create esthetic concerns for the patient if these regions are in the esthetic area, and discomfort from food accumulation when these pontic regions are in the posterior area of the mouth. However, what the literature has also shown us is the majority of this naturally destructive process tends to occur within the first few weeks and months immediately after an extraction in susceptible individuals.
Ridge Preservation at the time of tooth extraction would thus be the best approach to not only minimize this adverse outcome but rather to capitalize on the naturally occurring wound healing physiology of the extraction socket to maximize bone growth.
This course is designed for clinicians who wish to sharpen and expand their knowledge to a more advanced level, as well as for clinicians who simply wish to stay abreast of all the new approaches and current philosophies on hard tissue management during the extraction of a tooth and for implant site preparation.
This advanced surgical course is centered on our teaching philosophy and approach; to merge evidence based scientific literatures and deliver it in a practical hands-on manner, making it useful and applicable to everyday practice for the general dentist.
Describe our method and philosophy for ridge preservation grafting and gain confidence in clinical assessment of their cases.
Comprehend the indications, guidelines and surgical steps for different methods of bone grafting.
Have a better understanding of the anatomy and the biology of wound healing and bone graft maturation.
Improve their skills in diagnosis, prevention, and management of intraoperative and postoperative complications associated with ridge preservation grafting.

The most important first step when considering endodontic treatment is Diagnosis. Unfortunately, periapical radiographs can only give us part of the radiographic assessment. CBCT offers an entirely different look at the root morphology and periapical tissues. From visualizing root resorption, root anomalies, canal orientation and prognosis assessment, CBCT is the most dramatic breakthrough in endodontics since the surgical microscope. In cases of complex diagnosis or questionable prognosis assessment, a CBCT analysis has been shown to change the treatment plan for an endodontic case almost half of the time. This very clinicallybased presentation will review the nuances of CBCT technology and how it is now a necessary component of endodontic assessment and treatment.
Understand the various three-dimensional planes observed in a CBCT scan.
Understand the advantages of CBCT over periapical radiographs.
Recognize the three-dimensional location of root resorption.
Better understand the causes of endodontic re-infections.

He is also the senior editor and contributing author of the comprehensive textbook, Dental Traumatology. He is the President and Founder of Berman Dental Instruments. A board certified endodontist and Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, Dr. Berman has been in full time private practice in Annapolis, Maryland for the past thirty-nine years.
It’s a fact: perfect endodontic treatment can sometimes be unsuccessful. Unfortunately, the lack of healing can often be attributed to an inadequate preliminary diagnosis or an improper prognosis assessment. Specifically, crown and root cracks and fractures can lead to symptoms, pulp necrosis, and possible endodontic failure. Proper diagnosis and prognosis assessment with respect to observed or non-observed cracks and fractures are essential. In addition, the patient deserves to be properly informed as to any potential decrease in the case prognosis. Dr. Berman will systematically review the many variables that should be taken into consideration before the bur ever hits the tooth. After this presentation, you will never look at pending endodontic treatment the same way again.
Understand the radiographic interpretation of root fractures.
Understand the CBCT interpretation of root fractures.
Understand the clinical detection of root fractures.
Understand the prognosis of root fractures.

In this lecture, we will explore the neurophysiology of chronic pain, which will lead us to the inexorable conclusion that the experience of persistent pain results in the activation of complex emotional centers in the brain. We will then delve into how these centers play a role in the perception and evaluation of a once exclusively physical signal. Hence, to understand and effectively treat chronic pain, we must incorporate those interventions that address thoughts, feelings, and the meaning that patients attribute to their pain.
To explore the role of the limbic system in the experience and perception of persistent pain
To demonstrate the role of thoughts, and particularly distorted thoughts, in the subjective evaluation of pain
To discuss how chronic, refractory pain contributes to helplessness, which leads to depression with cognitive and motivational consequences
To demonstrate the role of meaning, or lack thereof, in coping with persistent pain

Burnout is a psychophysiological phenomenon, which can have devastating consequences at physical, intrapersonal, and interpersonal levels, with well-documented implications in dental medicine. It is often experienced by highly conscientious, caring individuals, who do not know how or when to say ‘no,’ who tend to be demanding on themselves, with little or no awareness of their limitations. This presentation is a comprehensive exploration of the many dimensions of burnout and how to diagnose, treat, and reverse its course.
To gain a deeper understanding of the psychodynamics of burnout
To explore the psychophysiological mechanisms of burnout
To examine why dentists are particularly vulnerable to experience burnout
To recognize the early, mid, and late manifestations of burnout
To develop effective interventions for treating the burnout syndrome

Few domains of dentistry cause as much angst as oral surgery because of the potential for significant complications. Whether it’s dry socket or death, teams need to know how to manage the hazards involved. This lecture will look at the risks involved with surgical procedures, then work backward to help learners understand how to evaluate, prioritize, minimize, monitor and control the probability of unfortunate events.
Identify risks associated with oral surgery procedures
Evaluate, prioritize and minimize the risks
Strategies to minimize the impact of untoward events

In the dental office, we often think about hygiene, prevention, infection and disease. We know that viruses and disease are ubiquitous, and no one is immune from the threat of illness. Like in life, the cyber landscape is full of risk. Decision-makers need to think in clinical terms about their information technology infrastructure. Systems should not be thought of as either clean or infected, but in terms of a wellness model that considers susceptibility, resilience, wellness, vulnerability to infection and recoverability.
This course will help decision-makers understand how to protect the integrity of digital records, and how their networks store and access data. It will give them a checklist based framework, from a clinicians perspective, to guide discussions with their IT professionals, create policies in the office, and place an emphasis on multiple, overlapping and mutually supportive defensive systems that balance benefits, risks and costs.
Identify what falls into patient data, and if it’s integrity is “intact”
Identify how IT is currently being used, the physical make up of an IT network, and key policies that need to be in place.
Identify the core assets in their own practice that need protection and identify the most-significant threats to their business • Learn what to discuss with IT professionals, as a decision-maker, to build a threat-based, layered and defensive network architecture.
